The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness
by Stephen R. Covey
This book follows Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, providing a wealth of perspectives and tools to tie it all together. The main theme is finding your voice and helping others to find theirs. What appeals to me about this approach is that it works both at a personal level and at the level of any organization or group you may be involved with, including families, teams, service organizations, small companies, and large organizations. The following figure provides a better overview of the main concepts and themes than I could write here:
The book contains many effective diagrams, tables, and exercises to help you find your voice and inspire others to find theirs. The appendices contain a range of materials from real-world examples to a comprehensive litereature review of leadership theories. The Amazon listing provides sample pages and reviews that provide more information about what a great resource this book is.
Beyond the book, there is a great community site at http://www.stephencovey.com/ that provides access to video and exercises to complement the books.
